The deadline for reserving dorm rooms at UWM is MONDAY JULY 3rd 5:00 pm. After that date, we will not accept dorm reservations, however you can reserve directly through the UWM Sandburg dorm and pay a $50 surcharge per person.
The UWM Sandburg dorms are within several hundred yards of all the MWSF events.
Prices per single bed:
- $15-$30 sliding scale per person per night in rooms without air-conditioning.
- $25-$40 sliding scale per person per night in rooms with air-conditiong and a kitchennette. See registration form for details.
The dorm rooms are modern with full internet access and a great view of Lake Michigan and downtown Milwaukee. Rooms Include either one or two twin beds, sheets, pillow and case, blanket, towels, face cloth, soap, shampoo, bath mats, drinking glass, shared bath and local telephone service. Clock radios, reading lamps, and fans are available for check-out with a $3.00 refundable deposit.
Most rooms have one single bed, but you can request one of the rooms with two single beds. Each room has its own lock. Dorm rooms are organized by suites, with three or four rooms per suite. We can place groups and families of up to 5 people in the same suite, and groups of up to 30 on the same floor.
Here are diagrams of the dorm suites:
You can sign up for a dorm room on the registration form. If you have already registered for the Forum, but you now want to add a dorm room to your registration, fill out a registration form again, and mention in the Comments field that you just want to add a dorm room.
A block of hotel rooms has been reserved at the Holiday Inn Milwaukee-City Center, 611 W. Wisconsin Ave, which is about 3 miles from UWM. The discounted rate is $90 for either single or double occupancy per night, with rollway beds available on request for a $10. To reserve a room, call (414) 273-2950 or 1-800-465-4329 and ask for Midwest Social Forum rates before June 1, 2006. Rates are particularly high during this weekend due to Summerfest.
