Social Justice in the Streets and in the Courts!
MARCH & RALLY for
“SOCIAL JUSTICE IN THE STREETS & IN THE COURTS”
Sunday, July 9, 2:00 – 4:00 PM
Sherman Park (Sherman & Burleigh)
Milwaukee, WI
On Sunday, July 9th, the MIDWEST SOCIAL FORUM will culminate with a rally and march for “SOCIAL JUSTICE IN THE STREETS & IN THE COURTS.” Grassroots efforts to address police brutality in Milwaukee have a deep resonance for community activists from around the region, as do all efforts to reform the overall justice system. Not only in Milwaukee, but throughout the Midwest and the rest of the country, police brutality and injustice in the court systems toward people of color is being challenged by community and social justice organizations. At the Midwest Social Forum, our work for peace is grounded in our work together on behalf of basic social justice for all.
The rally, with local and regional speakers, begins at 2:00 pm at Milwaukee’s Sherman Park (located at the corner of Sherman & Burleigh, 3000 N. Sherman Blvd.). The march begins at 3:00 pm, going from Sherman Park to the 7th District Police Station.
Buses leaving the Forum will begin loading at 1:00pm at the UW-Milwaukee Student Union, with drop off at Sherman Park. The return pickup will be at Sherman Park and the return drop-off will be the UWM Student Union.
This event is being co-sponsored by Justice for Jude, Campaign against Violence, the NAACP, Wisconsin Citizen Action, Urban Underground, and Peace Action Wisconsin, among others.
