Center for Media and Democracy
The Center for Media and Democracy is a non-profit, public interest organization that strengthens participatory democracy by investigating and exposing public relations spin and propaganda, and by promoting media literacy and citizen journalism.
SourceWatch - an online, collaborative encyclopedia of issues, groups and people shaping the public agenda, at www.sourcewatch.org; No Fake News - a research, policy and activist effort to end public deception through misleading news media thats been bought and paid for by undisclosed interests; PR Watch - online and print reporting on how the PR industry and other professional propagandists manipulate information and perception; and Resource Center - providing assistance to journalists, researchers, activists and other seeking to understand the forces influencing news media
Location(s)
The Center serves social change activists, journalists, educators, researchers, policymakers, and the public at large. While much of the Center_s reporting focuses on the United States, the information reaches a worldwide audience, through the Center_s high-traffic websites. Surveys have verified that activists, educators, and mainstream and independent reporters comprise the Center_s main audience. All of the Center_s reporting is in English, though the Center_s books have been translated into other languages, including Spanish, French and Japanese.
