Community Action on Latin America (CALA)
Community Action on Latin America’s mission is to educate our local and campus community about underlying social, political and economic problems that are inherent to U.S. relations with Latin America and to work as activists in solidarity with groups in Latin America that are stuggling for peace and social justice.
CALA hosts speakers from Latin America and speakers from other countries to talk about current conditions in Latin America. CALA works with other solidarity and advocacy organizations in the Madison area.
Location(s)
CALA invites everyone to our monthly Latin America Roundtable discussion, the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7pm. During the UW Semester we meet at Pres House, 731 Library Mall. In the summer when the weather is nice, we occasionally meet informally on the Memorial Union Terrace, on the Plaza level, just outside the main doors to the Wisconsin Union Theater. If the weather is chilly or wet, we meet inside the Union in the Rathskellar.
Organizing panel Venezuela: Throwing Off the Post-Colonial Chains.
