Our Herstory The Lesbian Alliance was born in the summer of 1989 when nearly 150 Lesbians gathered in response to homophobic actions by the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors, anti-Lesbian/Gay organizing by the religious right and lack of Lesbian representation in the media and in the community. Currently the Lesbian Alliance has over 200 members and is open to Lesbian women of all ages, races, and social class backgrounds. For more information on membership, please email lamm@milwpc.com, or contact us at 414-272-9442. The Lesbian Alliance is fueled by a board of local Lesbian volunteers who are always looking for more members and more volunteers to help us plan, put on, carry out events and keep the organization in good shape so that we can continue to meet the social, political and educational needs of the Milwaukee Lesbian community and to live our mission.
