Center for Applied Theatre

The Center for Applied Theatre has two wings. One develops customized workshops using proven techniques based on the work of Augusto Boal to assist organizations to clearly identify problems and actively rehearse solutions. The workshops release potential in individuals while building group cohesion and promoting positive change. The Forum Theatre wing presents interactive plays about concerns of communities or organizations. Our repertoire includes several plays about social problems, but scripts are developed in consultation with specific groups to focus on particular concerns.
CAT is an Arts at Large partner with Milwaukee Public Schools. In addition, we perform in schools and Boys and Girls Clubs 40-50 times each year in association with Milwaukee Public Theatre. We have worked recently with PEARLS for Teen Girls, the Private Industry Council, and Fighting Back among others.

CAT will be conducting the "Advocacy and Identity" workshop on Sunday, July 9, at 10:45.
